Career Development Process

While the succession planning system is the organization’s plan, the career development process would provide opportunities for individuals to identify and work on their own development and career objectives. These two plans should be integrated with the Performance Management System so that there is alignment within the organization.

It should:

Provide employees with the opportunity to give input into their own development
Ensure that employee and career development is done in a systematic fashion throughout the organization

Based upon input received and performance evaluations given, each employee will:

Have information available about career opportunities within the organization
Understand the competencies required for various positions
Understand the experiences required for different positions
Have the opportunity to develop and work on a plan to help them achieve their career objectives
